RTI Portal
The Government of Telangana has launched a dedicated portal to facilitate the "Right to Information" (RTI) for its citizens. The Information & Public Relations Department oversees the management and monitoring of this portal, which has been designed to provide seamless, single-point access to all essential information and services mandated under the RTI Act, 2005. This initiative covers all Public Authorities, Government Offices, and Autonomous Bodies under the Government of Telangana.
The portal serves as a centralized and authentic source of information about the implementation of the RTI Act, 2005, within the governance system of Telangana. To ensure the Act is implemented effectively, the nodal department has developed the "RTI Central Monitoring Mechanism" (www.rti.telangana.gov.in), which incorporates all mandatory provisions of the RTI Act and enables real-time tracking of its implementation across a unified network. Each Public Authority has a designated account on this system, equipped with a predefined Web Content Management System. This allows authorities to upload and manage their suo-motu disclosures as required under Section 4(1)(b), (c), and (d) of the RTI Act, 2005. Additionally, these accounts enable the efficient handling of information requests submitted under Section 6 of the Act. Requests may be received physically, transferred from other Public Authorities, or submitted online. By adhering to prescribed timelines for resolving RTI queries, Public Information Officers (PIOs) ensure accountability, with penalties applicable for non-compliance. Citizens, in turn, benefit from timely access to information, fostering trust in the government system.
